is currently employed with the Cabinet of Families and Children, Division of
Family Support as an Internal Policy Analyst II/Food and Nutrition Education
Coordinator. In her current position
she assists in the development of nutrition outreach programs targeting the
elderly, disabled and youth. The
goal is to improve the attitudes, behaviors and awareness of individuals and
families who receive Food Stamp benefits to promote healthier eating habits
through nutrition education and outreach. Chantel has been
an employee of state government for 4 years.
She began her career as a Communications Assistant in Public
Information Branch in the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet in 1994, and after 2
months was promoted to the Office of the Secretary as an Executive Secretary,
Senior for Secretary Kim Burse. In
January 2000, she returned to work at the Revenue Cabinet as a Revenue
Examiner I, processing sales tax returns and issuing purchase exemption
numbers to non-profit organizations. She
later became a Program Investigative Officer for the Office of the Inspector
General where she conducted welfare fraud investigations. Chantel is a
native of Versailles, KY and a 1992 graduate of the University of Kentucky
where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and is
currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Public Administration at Kentucky
State University. She was employed by the Woodford County Board of Education
as the Woodford County High School Dance Team coach for eight years. She volunteers her time in her community
with the senior citizens, the Early Start Program, and the Woodford County
Fair, and the Ms. Teen Kentucky Pageant and has created a community dance
team for youth between the ages of 5 to 12.
She also choreographs routines for pageants, middle and high school
cheerleading and dance squads. Chantel is an
active member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Versailles where she is the
Director of the Youth Choir and Praise Team, the treasurer of the Lay
Organization and a member of the Angelic Ensemble choir. Her motto is
“pray first, aim high and stay focused because with God all things are
possible.” |
